The Duma Deer Processing Company always try to make the experience as smooth and convenient for you as possible. Below are a few things that will help.
- Backup your vehicle to the dock. Please wait in line and in your vehicle until there is a spot for you to backup to the dock.
- Do not unload your deer until we have filled out your cutting instructions.
- Please have your deer tag from the ODNR already filled out and bring it inside with you, or make sure to have the ODNR confirmation number with you when you come in.
- Bring your $60 cash or check deposit.
- Before you leave, we will place the cutting instructions that we filled out together inside the chest cavity of your deer. This will identify your deer to insure you get the right one back and how you want it cut.
- Please do not approach the house at this address under any circumstances.
Our process is relatively straight forward, but if you haven’t used a deer processing team before, some folks want to know how we handle your deer. One of our main priorities is good service for both you and your deer. We ask that you back up to the dock but not unload your deer until we have went over the cutting instructions together because your cut sheet is how we identify each deer and keep them separate.
After you back up to the dock, please come inside with your ODNR (Ohio Division of Natural Resources) check in confirmation number. Or, the number from whichever state you harvested your deer. For Ohio, this is the number you received from the ODNR after you harvested your deer.
In the office we will go through how you want your deer cut and if you would like an smoked/specialty meats made. If you are bringing multiple deer we need a sheet filled out for each deer. We put these sheets in the chest cavity of the deer and this cut sheet stays with your deer through the whole process.
Once your deer is skinned it will hang on our rails until it is time to cut. We drop one deer at a time on the table and then cut your deer based on the cutting instructions placed with it at drop off. This sheet has the information you filled out for how your deer should be processed in regards to steaks, roasts, backstraps, tenderloins, burger and also has your name and phone number.
A standard cut which does not have any specialty or smoked meats is typically finished within a few days to a week. Orders which have specialty or smoked meats could take a couple weeks. In this case, we process your deer and put that box in the freezer while we are making the additional items.
We will wait to call or text you for pickup until your entire order is ready. Once an order is ready we will send a reminder every few days as we know life happens and customers might have missed the first message. Don’t worry as we do are best to get ahold of you.
As a deer processing company, we use only the industry’s highest food packaging standards, so we vacuum-seal the meat to preserve freshness and to prevent freezer burn. We label it with the type of cuts to make it easy for your family to consume it. If you ordered any additional services such as adding seasoning or making sausage, that will be identified on the packaging as well.
We hope you’ll trust the our DDP family to process your next deer! We’d be privileged to do so.
